Picture: MF Leader, Mrs Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi ; tribute to Madiba, in parliament.
Hon. Members , it’s with equal sadness and happiness that I pay this tribute to our beloved Madiba, on this one year, of his passing on, on behalf of the Minority Front.
If any one affirmation by Madiba that sums up his life’s choices, the one stands out , Madiba stated:
“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background, or his religion.
People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela
These are words of profound and evolved thinking of our global icon. In a time when racism is still a scourge in SA, we must all learn from this affirmation.
Madiba lived his life by his experiences and what these taught him.
As South Africans, each one of us has the responsibility to know our Leaders and their wisdom.
Knowing Madiba; who by his own admission never claimed to be a saint but his life’s accomplishments through action, thought and deeds paves the way for more iconic South Africans to come forth.
May his soul rest in peace.
